About Me

I am a fourth-year medical student at the Indiana University School of Medicine and am currently applying for a residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Voice Performance and Biology along with a minor in Chemistry from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, where I studied voice with renowned mezzo-soprano Marietta Simpson.

I am extremely interested in promoting women’s health, especially as it pertains to decreasing the rate of maternal mortality in the United States, which disproportionately affects minority women. For this reason, I am pursuing a career in Obstetrics & Gynecology. I am also interested in potentially pursing a fellowship in Maternal Fetal Medicine, Gynecologic Oncology, or Urogynecology.

I am passionate about introducing my fellow medical students and medical professionals to the intersection between the fine arts and medicine, for which purpose I founded the Music in Medicine Special Interest Group at IUSM, which currently operates as an independent branch of the Music in Medicine Committee of American Medical Women’s Association. My group’s goal is to encourage and introduce students to a more integrative approach to medical treatment, patient and provider wellness, and mental health as well as emphasize the importance of interdisciplinary care of patients through the utilization of art therapy, music therapy, voice therapy, etc.
